The Society is a non-profit organisation which holds art exhibitions, competitions and classes. It is a working gallery and has 10 monthly exhibitions some of these are Open Competitions and the remainder are for Members only.

With support of loyal sponsors the year 2014 achieved $7,800 worth of prize money and awards.

The 7th QAS Charity Art Show held in City Walk, Canberra this year was a huge success. Queanbeyan City Mayor Cr Tim Overall officially opened the Charity Art Show under kind weather which remained for the week of Floriade. The society chose the Snowyhydro SouthCare as the charity to support for 2014 and there was a 10% increase in sales on last year.

Art classes are held on weekdays, weekends and evenings. They cover all mediums and some specialise in a particular subject matter. A relaxed and supportive environment is encouraged and students of all levels are welcome. Tuition costs are minimal. In addition to the regular art classes, visiting professional tutors conduct workshops throughout the year.

The Society produces a monthly newsletter keeping members informed on news and activities. At the end of the year a Calendar is produced representing one member's painting and the winners of each monthly exhibition.
