General conditions of entry (check entry form for additional conditions)

  1. COPYRIGHT:  The Artist warrants that the entry is bona-fide work and has been completed in the last 2 years.
  2. ELIGIBILITY:  Any work that has previously won a FIRST PRIZE or BEST EXHIBIT at any previous QAS Exhibition/Competition is not eligible to enter.
  3. FRAMING: All works must be suitably presented and ready to hang.. This includes the use of D-rings attached to the back of the frame (or stretcher if unframed) on the left and right vertical edges, approx 1/3 from the top with cord or coated wire attached. Eye-hooks and cup-hooks are NOT acceptable. Staples, frame fixing points and any other sharp or protruding edges on the back of the work must be securely taped to avoid damage or injury. The back of the entry must be labelled with the Artist’s name, Title of the work, and medium. QAS reserves the right to reject an entry which does not comply with this requirement.
  4. STRETCHED CANVASSES:  Stretched canvasses will be accepted, unframed, with clean edges.
  5. MINIATURES: A miniature is a painting sized 10 x 10cm or framed 30 x 30cm.
  6. SIZE:  Paintings exceeding 1 metre in width including frame will be charged an extra $5.00
  7. UNSUITABLE WORKS:  The committee reserves the right to reject any work.  No refund will apply to works rejected, and rejected entries will NOT BE HUNG!
  8. PRIZES:  Prizes awarded at the Judges discretion and no correspondence can be entered into
  9. SALES:  All paintings must be for sale.  There will be a 20% commission on all sales from the QAS gallery.  (Commission rates may vary for other Exhibitions/Competitions).
  10. INSURANCE:  QAS does not cover insurance for paintings displayed.  All care taken but no responsibility for loss, damage or theft.
  11. DURATION: Paintings must remain at the Gallery for the duration of the Exhibition, unless sold, when the artist may replace a painting under the same conditions at no extra cost.
  12. PROMOTION:  QAS reserves the right to photograph and/or reproduce any entry for promotional, educational or review purposes, including electronic media.
  13. RIVERSIDE PLAZA:  Works selected from the current Exhibition/Competition will be displayed in the Queanbeyan Riverside Plaza street window (or other venues) for a month following the current Exhibition/Competition.
